Can you hear the music? I went to the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra for the Buchbinder Birthday Concert last Friday with a musical friend. It was three concertos by Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven. How much we rely on our senses to enjoy the beauty of the world and how lucky in our time to have the technology and skills to amend our deficits. Beethoven was almost completely deaf but kept writing music. Perhaps he played and heard it in his head or felt the music in the air. Music fills us up whether we can hear or not. `
My friend was a science teacher but plays three instruments and comes from a musical family. She asked, “Did you like it?”
She wanted me to like it. She wanted to share what she loved with others. Art is for everyone. It is to be shared.
