In a previous post I wrote about filing a claim with the Pennsylvania Lawyers Fund for Client Security for the money misappropriated by Jacob’s first attorney who died a month after we retained him. We finally received notice that our claim would be reviewed at the board’s September 22, 2016 meeting. That is just one month shy of two years since that lawyer died and just two months shy of the date we filed our claim. What did clients do who had no money to proceed with their cases? Did they get the representation they deserved?
Will we get our money back or will we be writing this off as an uncollectible debt? I have no idea if claims are paid in full or it is cents on the dollar or the claim could be rejected.
Attorneys….can’t live with them and can’t live without them. How do you choose the right one for your case? You never know until it’s too late.
